Millie (aka Millie Vanili, Millicent, Sillie Millie)

When I'm with my human family I just can't get enough of that Tug O' War rope! And I absolutely, positively am the best ball catcher in the world - ready for my Olympic gold medal. It would look just perfect draped across my chest. And doesn't every girl look better with some nice gold jewelry?

Diamonds might be a girl's best friend, but Kongs are my best friend! And when they are filled with special surprises (hint: peanut butter), I am in doggie heaven. Cool bones come in a close second. And, don't forget the ropes and balls. So many toys, so little time.

I make my family laugh when I pitch my bone into the air, pounce on it and then run around the yard waiting for it to catch me. The bone hasn't figured out how to play this game, but I love it. This really should be on You Tube - too bad my mom hasn't caught me in action with the video camera.

In case youre wondering, I do ask to go out when I gotta go. I do very well in a crate.

People tell me that Im more adoptable if I know things. I am not only cute, but smart, too. In fact, I have a PHD (Polished, Handsome Dog) in Sit, Down, Stay, Come and Shake. I am still perfecting loose leash walking, but perfection takes time, you know.

My foster family knows me pretty well and they think the perfect family for me would be one that can provide lots of love and consistent training because I am worth it. A calm environment is the best because I enjoy all the attention someone can give.

Geez - I almost forgot to tell you that my foster mom thinks I'm REALLY smart. I amaze her at how quickly I learn my commands. Her gentle and kind manner has calmed me down A LOT since I moved in. While I still have lots of energy, I am discovering that laying around and sleeping is pretty nice too. My foster mom thinks I have so much potential to be the best dog ever!!!

10/16/08 - intake notes:
When we first met Millie at the shelter she wasn't in very good shape. Suffering from an easily treatable skin condition that her previous owners had failed to take care of, she was dirty and had big patches of fur missing all over her body. But there was one thing about Millie that really won us over, and that was her lovable personality! One look into her eyes -- one brown, one blue -- and your heart will melt. The amazing thing is that even after being through so much obvious neglect in the past, she's a happy girl who adores people and loves playing with other dogs. This is definitely one girl who doesn't hold a grudge. She's still a pup in so many ways at just 12 months old, and can't wait to meet her new forever family.

Adopting me will be a lifelong commitment, and my new family needs to be ready, willing and able to provide me not only with lots of love as an indoor member of the family, but also with ongoing training and socialization.

Please note that Pit Bull Rescue San Diego does not adopt on a first come first served basis. Generally we have formed an opinion about the sort of home that we want for each of the dogs in our program. This opinion is formed from knowing each dog and observing their interactions in various situations and through periodic evaluations. Our goal is to place our charges in the home that is the best possible for that particular dog. Our only goal is happiness and forever homes for our dogs. A forever home is most likely to happen when we do the best we can to find lifestyles and personalities that match.

We are aware that this is a human process and that you may or may not agree with our decisions. Please understand that we take very seriously the lives placed in our hands for this brief time and our decisions are only made out of protectiveness for the breed and the specific dogs we are placing and not out of any judgment of you or your life.
