Pittie the Fool Photo Contest

Pittie the Fool

July 1, 2010 - August 15, 2010

Time to start collecting together your photos!

Come back to on July 1 for details on how to enter.

We all know that our bully breeds are happy, clownish, foolish, joyful, and full of life. And we certainly don't pity them for being who they are. We aim our cameras their way in hopes of capturing that famous bully smile. This is your chance to show the world what joyous fools our pups can be.

We are looking for photos that speak to this theme. We will ask you for 200 words or less about how your photo addresses it. In addition to your name and address information, you will be asked for your pet's name, breed or mix and where you adopted your pet if s/he was adopted.

Moneys raised during this photo contest will go towards our Medical Fund to help us commit to dogs in shelters whose only sin is that they have a medical condition that the owners and shelter could not afford to address. Our most recent recipient of your generosity is Tonka. Tonka was the beneficiary of not one, but two, tragedies. His owner, displaced from his home, decided that it was a better idea to simply let his two dogs out of the yard to fend for themselves rather than doing the humane thing and bringing them into a shelter. Tonka, joyous to be out but not understanding the dangers of the world outside of his limited yard, was hit by a car and brought to the shelter with a leg so badly damaged that it ultimately needed to be amputated. In severe pain, he still managed to smile and kiss his benefactors while he waited patiently for his surgery. Tonka has been recovering in our program for a couple of months now and has recently been cleared for adoption. Between the generosity of PBRSD supporters and the limited means of a shelter who desperately wanted to help him, his recovery has gone really well and we are so grateful to all who helped. This contest will enable us to help more like Tonka, who will be true ambassadors to the pit bull's resilient spirit.
